"ings"
Being a supportive Navy wife for the past 28 years I found myself telling my children the following: No fighting, no running, no asking, no fibbing, no...etc. One day we were going to the commissary and I began by saying your father wears khakis and your behavior is a reflection on him. Kids, no running, no asking and within seconds I was interrupted by my then 6 year old son Chris..."Yes, Mom, we get it, no "ings." I said, "Yes, you get it. No ings." No "ings" is a staple in our home and it being one of the most basic parenting skills I never had a time out chair, loss of privileges were common and it was hard. But, I can honestly say by being consistent it made my kids grow up to be productive, independent adults. As I write about life's current events I hope to reflect and reveal from my past to hope and pray for the future.
